Granny’s Bags is something I’ve been wanting to do for years now. Being homeless and making these bags (most of them) really makes me think of a time that is nostalgic to look back on and realize how far I’ve come over the last 5 years. It’s a great feeling to be able to share them with others so they can enjoy what I’ve created.

Our story.
Granny’s Bags is a company I started after facing homelessness on the streets of Boston, MA. I first began crocheting about 15 years ago, but stopped when I became homeless. Two years ago, I picked it up again and started making bags, though I had no place to sell them. As I worked to rebuild my life, I moved into my own apartment in Jamaica Plain, MA, in November 2024. Throughout this journey, I never stopped creating bags. I decided to share them online, hoping others would love them as much as I do. Each Granny’s Bag is one-of-a-kind, with no two ever being the same. I named the company after my grandmother, whom I always called Granny.
